Another Post for Another Day
I always liked this song. Another rock band from the 90's and it's definitely a one-hit wonder.
Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta
This is a bad version of it, but it's really the best I could find off youtube.

No. You Don't Get a Title Today. You Know What You Did.
Guess who just got a cold? No, not you. Me. This blog isn't about you. I'm in Day 2. Late Saturday night was when I got the sore throat which lasted through Sunday. Today, that's mostly gone and now I just have a stuffy nose. Both my parents have been sick for the good part of a week now and I guess I should have seen it coming. I'm drinking Vernors by the gallon and I'm also using some cold medicine called, Zicam. It does actually work somewhat, it just leaves a pretty horrible taste in your mouth. Yuck.
So I was doing some driving late Friday night and guess what I so happen to hit with my vehicle? (By accident I assure you). No, not a homeless person. A raccoon. Yeah, the first time I ever ran any (living) thing over. It was just sitting in the middle of the road with its other raccoon friends. Hey, I tried to dodge it. Stupid raccoon. I felt awful the rest of the night. Ok, for about 20 minutes after. Still.
Well, I'm close to 300 words so I'm definitely gonna update this baby later tonight.
Some music:
Not sure why I like her music so much, I just kinda do. I was actually thinking of putting Stone Temple Pilots - Plush (accoustic) up, but I saw it was already posted on someone elses blog. Another good song...Well now that my masculinity is in question I think I should split. I'll put some Metallica or Tool up tomorrow. Now, I guess I'll go write my paper which I haven't started yet. Oh yeah.
Update: For anyone who has HBO there's a pretty funny new (new?) show on. It's called Bored to Death and it stars comedian Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, and Zach Galifianakas, you know that guy from Hangover. He got popular fast. And that is 300 words. Right, the paper.
Bored to Death homepage: http://www.hbo.com/bored-to-death/index.html
Update II: It's 10:28pm. and I finally understand the assignment. Seriously. I've been struggling with it for two days now and it's so simple. All we're doing is writing a story. You know, I'm a junior now, and I can't think of ever being assigned to simply write a story before. Sad I know, but they've pretty much all been general papers, research, philosophical, whatever. Huh.

Colbert and Such
Comedian Stephen Colbert testified on Capital Hill today. Yes, he testified in character too. I dunno, some people thought it was funny, others are really angry about it. It's definitely awkward though. A lot of the congressman(women) look very angry:

Career
Ack, this blogging business is proving to be difficult. I'm reading everyone's blogs and I find myself sweating nervously. There so good (for the most part - I won't name any names, you know who you are) and well my blog is anything but! I guess that's what happens when you throw a a business major into a class of english majors. I'm gonna have to swim fast to keep afloat. As Frank Drebin (sp?) from the Naked Gun would say, "It's fourth and fifteen and your looking at a full court press."
Or maybe Michael Scott says it best:
Kind of unrelated? Maybe. But you know it's funny.
Anyways...enough of my lamenting...I've been doing a lot of thinking lately (does several months count as lately?) and I've made the decision (crazy? Enough with the parenthesis? I'll try) to start my own small business. Where to begin? Well, both my father and grandfather have been in the wholesale food business for close to 30 years. They import and sell cases of pasta and sometimes olive oil to restaurants and stores and the like. The pasta part is due to my mother's side as my grandmother was actually born in Italy. Close to Naples I believe. The business was originally started by my grandfather - he is a hell of a businessman as well, the man could sell sand in a desert - cliche I know - the trick is he takes the time out of life's busy schedule to get to know each and everyone and show up-most interest and kindness to them. Not one of my gifts in life but I digress.
For years, pretty much my whole life actually I've never wanted to get into it, it just has never been by goal in life. My dad actually always pushed me away from such a path. He is determined to see that I get a law degree, which I will as well (why do you think I'm in this class? Ack! The parenthesis again!), but I've deciding on my own to follow this course as well as law. It actually came to me as a kind of revelation, a bolt of lighting from God I say half-jokingly. I was biking several months ago and it just kind of hit me aside the head as I was struggling up a rocky hill. And just like that, my entire life was changed - transformed. It was very hopey-changey.
Is anyone still reading this? Anyway, I went up to the Michigan Chamber of Commerce I think it was and formally applied as a LLC (limited liability company) and am now officially a business. I still think the whole idea is a little crazy, I mean I'm 20 and I'm starting a business during a recession no less, but I feel as if I have to and I'm super excited to boot. I will get actively involved and get this baby up and running in the winter semester and cluster my classes to only three days so I will have time to work on this company. Wish me luck.
...
What? You thought I was done? This is a ramble so you shouldn't that surprised/shocked/in full rebellion now should you?
Song of the day: Louis Prima: Just a Gigalo. I love this song.
Jack Handy quote:
"A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. "Hear that?" you say. "That's dynamite, baby."
Hey, he's not for everyone.

Pictures
Some pictures from the birthday party I attended Sunday. Normally I don't share family photos with complete strangers, but I guess I can make the exception. The pictures aren't the best anyway, they didn't really capture the the party in my opinion.
Football....Frank....Movie
Football:
Music:
Movie:
- Ok, so the games this week generally stunk, I was kind of rooting for the niners yesterday, but I mean they just kill their chances with stupid mistakes.
- I feel bad for Bush, broke his leg, ouch.
- When is Stafford coming back, it definitely isn't the same without him.
- Michigan's defense looks pretty bad, they're gonna get beat against good opponents. RichRod's last year?
Music:
- Great song to listen to when your driving around: Little Green Bag by the George Baker Selection. Great tune to listen to. Anyone who's seen Reservoir Dogs know what I'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L1hD5OlPtw
- I don't really want to get into what the lyrics are about, but the song is good...
- Also, it's like 80 some degrees out today and so I was driving around with all my windows down with F Sinatra at about full volume. You really do have to be in the mood for him, but the day was nice enough and Frank was pretty amazing driving around on a sunny afternoon.
- Summer Wind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhhXEuxhpG4
- The Best is Yet to Come: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmf1AYgYj6I
- I'm Gonna Live Til I Die: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwqp7cepYOo
- He has some really sad songs as well, I've Been to Town, and such. But that's not for today. Also, his version of Yesterday is much better than the Beatles version - in my humble opinion.
- You know what's funny? I take pride in listening to Frank Sinatra in my car - blaring it in fact as I drive 75 on a 50 - err, I mean carefully and cautiously driving the speed limit, but every time Michael Buble comes on I always have the urge to lower it. I guess it's just a secret pleasure of mine. I have a couple of bands like that.
Movie:
- I saw It's Complicated - I was forced! I swear! Is it too late to plead the fifth? ....Hmm....anyway, I was naturally disgusted by this blatant chick flick. Bad morals in it as well.
- The whole movie hinged on the fact that audiences had to believe that Meryl Street was, umm...attractive. And well, she just isn't. Never was. Alec Baldwin was funny, he carried my threw it and that guy from the Office (Jim) was cool too.
- Also, Steve Martin trimmed his eyebrows for this movie for some reason and they looked so strange, every time he was in a scene my eyes went straight to them. Odd sight.
- Also, I hear the Town was really good for anyone who's thinking about going to the movies. I refuse to believe it though. I mean c'mon. Gigli. Right?

What What What?!?
Family birthday party today?? At my cousins house?!? Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kReWMW6AxwU
Update:
Ok, so it was pretty fun. The birthday was on my dad's side of the family. Very Irish, that means lots of drinks and crude jokes. Had a really good time. I played shuffleball for the first time with my dad against his brother and one of his friends. We lost like 16 to 80 something. It's tough when you're stuck in the negatives. Also, the sun was in my eyes. And I had a bad stick. And my arm was broken? Sprained? I guess it's just a good thing there aren't any winners or losers, we're all winners in my book. Right?
Looks like I didn't miss much with the Lions. Yuck.
Oh yeah, and the Jets suck too.
Big time.

I Do Believe Homework Just Walked Up and Slapped Me Across the Face
Homework and lots of it. Poo. Might as well start my paper today today. Ugh.
Funny picture of a t-shirt I found:
Also a quote, I know I know I need to find one by a different author, lay off already. JH: "If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason." That one was for Professor Blumner.
Btw, just how good is Jane's Addiction? It seems like I'm always in the mood for them.

Boy Did I Pick a Bad Topic to Write On
What to write...what to write.....Like all great writers of our time, I am at a loss. Let's see now...
Oh no...I already have a fellow blogger who said that they liked my blog... can't disappoint now...uhh...Pixar!!! Yes that's right Pixar...Pixar? Yeah, about last week while in the pangs of sheer boredom my mind began to recall the movie "Up" (is it underlined or parenthesis?) and what a good movie it is. Now I'm not one for animated family movies like this - I saw "The Incredibles" after all the great reviews and most of my friends recommending it and I was really underwhelmed. I mean, it just really wasn't a really funny movie and I found my self bored through it (a recurring feeling I know) - but "Up" was just a really good movie. It was sad, funny, it had action, it had it all. I won't say I cried during it and anyone who says otherwise is just a liar. And a jerk. Um...
Yeah! The reason I bring this up is because I recalled the great animated movies of my youth (yes, the glory days). I thought of movies like 'Beauty and the Beast" "Alladin" and that lion one. At a risk of serious undermining and causing some of you to question my manhood (tough I know) I pose the question: Which company do you think has produced better movies: Pixar or Disney? Also, in contrast to what people have said, I'm not actually asking for your opinion. There is a wrong and a right answer. People who choose the right answer will be hailed and will receive vast rewards and great glory. (What's that? I don't have cast sums of wealth to give out? What are you trying to say? No reason to be rude about it) and people with the wrong answers will receive immediate and at the same time lingering death. Too harsh? I guess I can think of something else then. But not now. Might as well leave you on the edge.
Alright I promise to "man up" the next post. As Ghandi once said "Peace out homies"
Another Jack Handy quote for the road, because you know, your all driving while reading this right?: "Ambition is like a frog sitting on a Venus Flytrap. The flytrap can bite and bite, but it won't bother the frog because it only has little tiny plant teeth. But some other stuff could happen and it could be like ambition."

3 Hour Classes Make My Head Hurt
Ok, so I guess this display is aptly suited for today as I find myself sitting in a 3 hour (my first) business class. This class is all about learning how to use Microsoft Excel, which I already know how to use...ugh. But, let me move on, please God let me move on.
I've been finding it harder and harder to watch the Tigers lately, football can do that I guess. They lost btw, big. But then again, who cares? Maybe a brawl can perk up my interests for about a week or two, one can only hope. Where's Porcello when you need him?
What a great week of football right? I mean besides, that whole Stafford injury and the Calvin Johnson no touchdown thing where all hope was lost, it was a pretty good week. Patriots dominated, Jets talked a good game then lost, Peyton lost, great games the Cowboys and Chargers. Fun Fun. No football until Sunday though. Sigh...Oh! Yeah, two little thoughts on some commercials during the games: There was a commercial where a Polar Bear wandered into the suburbs, got up on its two feet and hugged a guy getting into a Prius or something. Those are the kind of commercials that make me want to cut those drivers off on the freeway, also fight polar bears one on one in some kind of boxing match. I dunno.
Also there was another classic old spice commercial. This one with Ray Lewis, a player of the Baltimore Ravens. In it he: steps out of a shower completely covered in bubbles, throws a harness on a giant eagle, rides around space in it (the raven now has some kind of rocket propeller attached to it now and he blows up planets. Pretty amazing stuff.
I'm sure most of you don't care about anything I've probably said, so my apologizes, I've never blogged before and I'll try to get better.
Here's a quote for the road: A Jack Handy quote (former SNL guy) : "Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth you'd probably be able to get a lot of free games."

The Dust Settles and the Blogging Begins
Well guys and girls this is going to be an absolutely terrible blog as I will confuse and bore most of you, the rest will most assuredly flee in utmost terror, but everyone has to eventually post on my blog and that requires reading some of it, so ha.
This isn't my 300 worder one as I'm still sitting in class and half conscious - half thanks to this delicious 7-Eleven coffee by my side, which is also very cheap - I hope they give me some kind of monetary compensation for that. This blog will basically be about what I see on TV - sports, movies, commercials. I'll try to keep it entertaining - but don't hold me on that. Btw, how gloomy is this design anyway? It's even depressing me, I'm sure I'll change it sporadically eventually, when I get around to it. Don't judge.
And that's really all I can think to say right now...(awkard silence)...
